Our dear classmate Nancy Burritt Haney, who we knew as Nancy Burritt, and who was in our class from kindergarten through tenth grade, passed away on Sep. 15, 2024. She resided in La Jolla, CA.
David, her husband of 50 years, emailed us some details about Nancy's life and passing. He said she was a wonderful person with many talents. Nancy was a great mother to two brilliant boys, one of whom passed in 2021 from the effects of Lyme disease. She frequently checked on the status of her old friends in East Longmeadow. Nancy had just retired as the chief physical therapist at San Diego Children's Hospital. She had suffered from Lyme disease for several years. David said the disease typically gives one a substantial immune defect. This led to Nancy getting shingles (varicella-zoster), the exposure to which resulted in a severe brain bleed, the cause of her passing.
