Our dear classmate Donna Tranghese (Parisi), who joined our class in third grade, passed away on Nov. 4, 2009. 

During her freshman year she was in the Spartanum Spectaculum variety show.

Here are excerpts from Donna's obituary, which appeared in The Republican newspaper: 

Donna M. (Tranghese) Parisi, 58, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield to Dominic and Lucille (Bonavita) Tranghese and was a graduate of East Longmeadow High School.

She worked for The Deli on Shaker Rd. for many years. Donna enjoyed going to the casinos, traveling and going on cruises with very close friends and mostly spending time with her grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her parents, Dominic and Lucille Tranghese of East Longmeadow; her beloved husband of 38 years, Joseph P. Parisi of East Longmeadow; her beloved children, Joseph D. Parisi and his wife, Angela of Springfield; and Tanya M. Giordano and her husband, Rosario of Springfield; her brother, Felix Tranghese and his wife, Corrine of East Longmeadow; her sister, Carla Deangelo and her husband, Joe of East Longmeadow; her cherished grandchildren, Giuseppe, Gaetano and Sofia; sisters-in-law, Regina and Chris; her brother-in-law, Dan; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the D'Amour Center for Cancer Care and Baystate Hospice.
