Our Classmates

Jack Evans

Jack's senior candid.

Our dear classmate Jack Evans passed away on Jan. 9, 2025. He joined our class in first grade.

Here are some excerpts from his obituary, which appeared in The Republican newspaper, Springfield, MA:

John "Jack" Evans, 72, of Springfield passed away on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025 after a short illness.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Betty (Cauthen) Evans, and his brother Daniel.

Jack graduated from East Longmeadow High School, later attending STCC and Western New England University.

He was employed for many years as an industrial engineer at Hasbro, Inc., and Carlin Combustion Technologies in East Longmeadow.

Jack was "one of a kind," quite the eccentric, embracing only positivity in his life, always seeing the glass half full. He loved his music and was an excellent guitarist. He was an avid Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics fan through the years, and in his younger days enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He had a very caring soul that he will be remembered for and that will be missed.

Jack leaves behind his sisters Katherine (Don) Nardi of Hampden, and Joan (Charlie) O'Keefe of Monson, and his brother, Tim (Joanne) Evans of Hampden, along with several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

We think this was taken prior to our senior banquet at Betty's Old Townhouse in Agawam, but it's possible it was taken just prior to graduation. Left to right: Bob "Albert" Price, Bob Clark, Jack Evans, Roy Esposito, and Armand Gamache.

Jack loved the color purple. Here, he's dressed in his favorite purple suit.

In the late 60s and early 70s, a group of kids who hung around the Center were known as the Center Rats. Later in life, Jack fancied himself the "King of the Center Rats." Here's his business card. He helped many people out who needed a lift.
