Our dear classmate Laura Bradley Morton passed away on Feb. 11, 2021.

Laura joined our class in first grade. During her freshman year, she was a member of the Red Cross Club.

Here are excerpts from her obituary which appeared in The Republican newspaper:

Laura Jane (Bradley) Morton, 69, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, surrounded by her family at Baystate Medical Center.

Born in Springfield, MA on Oct. 2, 1951, Laura was the daughter of the late Harry and Edwina D. (Collins) Bradley.

She attended Springfield Technical Community College and obtained her Associate's Degree in cosmetology. For many years, Laura had also worked in healthcare as a caregiver and as hospice support.

Laura spent her life dedicated to being an amazing mother and grandmother. She was so incredibly proud of all her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her granddhildrens' many sporting events and rarely missed any of their many hockey, lacrosse, or soccer games.

Laura loved spending her summers at her home on Cape Cod. She enjoyed long walks on the beach with her husband, admiring sunsets and the ocean waves, and spending time playing in the water and sand with her grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Laura was predeceased by her sister, Gail; brother-in-law, William Humphries; and infant grandson, Caillin. She leaves her loving husband of 47 years, Russell W. Morton of Hampden; her children, Sara Weichselbaumer and her husband, Eric of Hampden; Ryan Morton and his wife, Heather of East Longmeadow; and Lindsay Kane and her husband, Stephen of Hampden; her cousin, Ann Gasperine, who was like a sister to her; her brother-in-law, Dennis Morton; 14 grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. Laura also leaves several great-nieces and nephews, as well as many extended family members and loving friends.

Memorial contributions in Laura's memory may be made to St. Mary's Church, 27 Somers Rd., Hampden, MA.

My sincere condolences to Russ and his family.  Laura was such a great person and Laura and Russ were good friends of mine and my late brother Steve's. I introduced Laura to Russ after he was smitten by her when she walked past our mechanical drafting class.  They were such a great couple for so long. I am deeply saddened by Russ's loss.
