Our Classmates

Paul LaBroad

Paul's senior photo.

Our dear classmate Paul LaBroad, who was in our class since first grade, passed away from heart failure on May 22, 2009, according to his father, George. He was living in Cedar City, Utah.

Very athletic, he was on the swim and track teams all four years, the football team during his freshman and sophomore years, and in the Ski Club during his senior year.

Here is the notice of Paul's passing, which appeared in a St. George, Utah newspaper:

Paul LaBroad died suddenly on Friday, May 22, 2009. Paul leaves behind two girls; Kenya, 15 and Alexa, 13.

Paul served in the United States Air Force, and was very proud of his service to our country. To all of us, Paul, as a single parent, was one of the finest father figures anyone could have met. He loved his two daughters.

Paul was a dedicated employee and a good friend to many he worked with at the Viracon facility in St. George. Paul was respected in the veterans community and helped with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the Freedom Park in Cedar City. He will be missed.

Note: Paul's father, Mr. George LaBroad and Paul's sister, Betsey LaBroad (Greene) have joined our site as guest members. Please feel free to contact them via email by clicking on the Classmate Profiles page, scrolling down to Guest Members, and clicking on their names.

That incredible moment in the 100 yard dash --- off the blocks first against Agawam are Tom McDonough, Jim Manferdini, and Paul LaBroad ((fourth from left with right arm outstretched). Tom placed second in the Valley Wheel meet; Paul grabbed third spot in the Western Mass. low hurdles; Jim, a 10.3 man in the 100, also excelled in the 220 at 22.9. Both winning times were set in the Valley Wheel meet.
