It was a great reunion. Everyone seemed so happy to be together again. It was good to be back in the area and see old friends and catching up with everyone. It's been great working on the website. Glad that so many classmates are happy and healthy. I hope you'll make it to the next reunion.

I'm just back from our 40th reunion, and I hope everyone had as good (great!) time as I did. What was your most memorable part of the weekend? Mine was reconnecting with old friends and connecting with those of you I did not know well at ELHS. The Reunion Committee did a fabulous job; thank you for all of the time you spent on the planning. I look forward to seeing all of you soon!

Hi, Cher and I live in Spfld. just over the EL line. We have 3 daughters ( all married and 7 grandkids). I'm kinda semi retired, I'm working as a psych RN on a locked unit at Noble Hospital (I went back to school ). The job is nemer boring. It would be great to see you guys. Kurt

Kurt!! So good to hear from you!! How are you and your family? Still in EL, right?

Lou and I are still hanging out together, lol, for ALOT of years now. Trying to stay out of trouble. Two of my kids and three grand children are here in AZ. My oldest, Mark, lives in Agawam. He works with Lou's brother running "The Tavern" restaurant in Westfield. He coached the Westfield HS JV baseball team for two years and just became the catching coach at Westfield State College.

I don't think we are going to make it back for the reunion, but the next time we come to visit family, we will try to get ahold of you.

As I recollect, and some of those gigs were a tad bit foggy, Cherish was always the last song played. Food for thought.

How many remember when the Band "The Never Ends": Dennis Arbour,Gary Rugani,Billy Duncan,Jeff Gardell, and Dougie Petrie played for like 7/8 weeks in a row and packed/rocked the place? "Hey Joe", "Johnny 'B Good", "Hey Mr. Tamborine Man" Cream, Beatles, The Byrds, The Yardbirds,..................

Hi Marilyn, Linda and Donna,

How wonderful to reconnect with you all ! In 8th grade we walked to the hs from Birchland Park Jr High because of the bomb scare. Can you imagine what people must have thought seeing throngs of kids walking en masse thru the center of town on the way to ELHS?! At least it was a nice day because it seemed like a very long walk!

Marilyn and Donna,

After thinking about it...I was a walker living right across the street from the HS. If we went from HS to Birchland then I would have walked home instead.

Donna seems to think this hapend in 8th grade. If so then I would have been part of the walk to the HS. I had to have missed that day.

I sure hope someone else remembers this.

I RECENTLY RECEIVED THIS JOKE IN MY EMAIL AND I SHARED THIS WITH A FEW OTHER CLASSMATES, AND IT WAS DECIDED IT WOULD BE FUN TO PERSONALIZE IT TO ELHS AND POST IT HERE.... I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT TOO! MY NAME IS PEG DONAHUE AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.

THIS BALDING, GRAY HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE AND THE SUBJECT OF SO MANY OF MY DAYDREAMS. EVEN SO, AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD BY ANY CHANCE ATTENDED EAST LONGMEADOW HIGH SCHOOL.

"YES, YES, I DID ... I'M A SPARTAN !!! " HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.

"WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?" I ASKED.

HE ANSWERED "IN 1970. WHY DO YOU ASK?"

I actually went more Friday nights than I didn't! Although, I have to admit we almost never stayed the whole dance. I remember dancing to songs like Cherish, Along Came Mary, Just Walk Away Renee, lots of tunes by the Turtles, and the Four Tops, and I remember we all tried to do the Shimmy to a little number called "Wipe Out!" My sides used to hurt after that number!

Walking from Birchland Park

I hope someone can clear this up for me.

It occurred to me after I wrote the last message that maybe we had done it the other way around.

Maybe we walked from Birchland Park to the High School. I know it was one way or the other.

Can anyone confirm this one way or the other?

Yes, the bomb threat really happened. I also remember one bomb threat - our first ever in the history of the Town of EL - in 8th grade when we had to walk from Birchland to the High School.

I am sure everyone remembers how many bomb scares we had but do remember us at one time walking all the way to Birchland Park. It still amazes me that the whole school walked over there.

I hope someone else remembers so I know it really happened.
